EV Charger Rebates in Ontario: What You Can Actually Claim in 2026

If you have just bought an EV, the charger install is usually the last thing you think about and the first thing that surprises you on price. The good news is that a meaningful chunk of that cost can often be offset.

Start with your utility. Several GTA distributors run load-management incentives that pay you back for installing a smart charger that can be throttled during peak demand. The charger has to be on the approved list, and the paperwork has to be submitted with the ESA certificate, which is why we file it for you rather than leaving it in your inbox.

Condo owners have a second path. Ontario's condo EV rules require boards to consider reasonable installation requests, and many corporations now have a standardized submission package. We prepare that package - load calculation, single line diagram, insurance and licensing - so your request does not stall at the first board meeting.

The part homeowners miss most often is the panel. A 200 amp service with a load calculation on file is worth far more at resale than the charger itself, and if you are already close to capacity, a load management device is usually cheaper than a service upgrade.

Book a load calculation before you buy the charger, not after. It is a twenty minute visit and it decides which charger actually makes sense for your home.
